We Placed It Where You Live
We did not put art in a separate room. We placed it where you live.
In the spaces you cross every morning, in the corners you find on the second day, when you already know the hotel and move through it differently. It always happens at a different moment for each person: you are on your way to breakfast, or coming back from the pool, and something stops you. A piece you had not seen. Or one you had seen, but today the light is different and suddenly it says everything. That moment cannot be planned. It simply happens.
The Common Thread
That was the decision: not a museum inside the hotel, but art integrated into the place. And the common thread of that decision is César Manrique.
His presence here is not only a matter of collection, but of coherence. Manrique built Lanzarote on that same principle: creating without competing with the surroundings, integrating rather than imposing. His pieces at Plus Fariones are exactly that, a dialogue with the place. And those who live with them here arrive at Jameos del Agua or the Foundation with a different eye. They recognise the language. The visit becomes more than just a tour.
Other Voices, the Same Identity
José Abad, Ildefonso Aguilar and Nicolás Laiz bring other perspectives on Canarian identity. Each with their own language and materials, but with something in common: their pieces do not seem added to this space. They seem part of what the place has always been.
For decades, Lanzarote has been building an identity where architecture, nature and art coexist as if there could be no other way. Here, that identity is not visited. It is lived.
